1. You love traveling
Are you a fan of traveling and working flexible hours? This career might be a good choice because a lot of companies offer working remote options, their employees are not required to be physically present in the Office as long as they get the job done. Having worked in tech for 1 year. I literally travel while I work, flying to other countries, and cities so I work in the morning and travel after work. You can literally visit Rome, work on the beach and still work. I used to work in Finance. I have to be in the office and sitting in the cubicle all day long.
A programming language is for thinking about programs, not for expressing programs you’ve already thought of. It should be a pencil, not a pen.
2. You hate Boredom
Are you bored at your current job, doing the same things every day? working in Tech could be your solution. In tech, every department and every company innovate every day and develops new products, and features that meet the current market needs. And as a developer, you will have to learn new skills such as learning new Languages, Frameworks. You can become a web developer this year and become a data scientist the year after. As long as you are willing to learn, you will never get bored at your work. Due to the high demand for tech, you can switch jobs to a different field once you have the right skill set.
2. You are a gamer
Learning coding and playing games are pretty much the same. You pick a game like picking a language to learn. At first, you are at level 1, you try to find resources and make many mistakes trying to level up. I was frustrated for a long time. But once you find the right strategies and techniques, things become more manageable, you will be proud of yourself once you reach your goal because you work hard for it. People around you might not agree with you but your success is measured and achieved by you and nobody else.
3. You love working with people
When I asked people what their first impression about tech was: Sitting in front of a computer all day and not talking. That is not a fact at all. As a Developer, you will spend a lot of time collaborating with colleagues from multiple different departments from Product managers, Consultants, Accountants, and auditors which means you have the chance to learn from others. “Communication skills are important”.
4. You want a high-paying job
I am pretty sure you have watched a lot of Software engineers earning 6 figures. This is absolutely achievable as long as you are willing to put in the time. In my situation. My current tech job pays way higher than my finance job with 2 3 years of experience. If you are finding your first tech job, this should not be your top concern. Once you have enough experience and expertise, Money will follow.
